The Hotel Madera restaurant Firefly, an 85-seat modern American bistro is the quintessential urban neighborhood restaurant-sophisticated but reasonably priced for the city's many "regulars" who dine out several times a week. The restaurants defining decorative element is a manmade, floor-to-ceiling birch-like "firefly tree," hung with lanterns and lit by candles. The space includes a backlit amber glass bar and lots of natural materials such as wood and iron. Much of the atmosphere comes from the lighting. The kitchen is partially visible behind a rustic stone wall. Outside seating at a terrace cafe adds to the lively atmosphere.
